Background:
AEL (Appalachia Educational Laboratory) is a U.S based
non-profit corporation that provides education research,
professional development and consulting services to
private and government agencies.
The Challenge:
As a professional services organization, AEL works
on a number of different projects for clients in numerous
locations. Seeking to improve operational efficiencies
at an organizational and project level, AEL needed to
facilitate more efficient project and resource management,
enhance organizational knowledge management, and foster
open collaboration within a broad range of governmental,
educational and community stakeholders.
The Solution:
A professional services knowledge management platform
that integrates a number of organizational and project
management, collaborative and community services into
a single, intuitive and easy-to-use application. Symphony
supports both formal projects and ad-hoc collaborative
groups, offering a suite of task and calendar management
tools to improve employee productivity. Symphony integrates
with Microsoft Exchange server for messaging and calendaring
synchronization, providing users with access to specific
Symphony functions through Microsoft Outlook.
The Results:
• Rolled out to the AEL enterprise.
• Being packaged by AEL and ii3 for marketing
to similar organizations.
• Scheduled to be deployed by ii3 as a collaborative
extranet tool.
