Background:
RBC Investments is the wealth management division of the Royal Bank of Canada. Royal Bank of Canada is one of North America's premier diversified financial services companies. It is Canada's largest company, with offices in more than 30 different countries.
The Challenge:
Support the launch of a new service targeted at RBC's wealthiest clients by enhancing the performance of customer facing staff members. RBC Investments required a solution that would leverage existing data sources to help asset and relationship managers' better service their clients.
The Solution:
A Web-based solution called Royal Managed Portfolios which
integrates 11 legacy systems to deliver sophisticated workflow
and asset allocation services. Royal Managed Portfolios extends
the reach of staff members, whether they are in the field
or in the office, helping them provide outstanding customer
service. Financial Advisors can collect, view and submit client
data for approval, while Relationship Managers are able to
view client account data, approve or reject account submissions,
and determine asset allocations. The application was built
to meet the banks stringent design and technology standards.
The Results:
• Currently in use through LEOnet, the RBC enterprise
Intranet
• Royal Managed Portfolios is RBC’s first
mission critical Java application
• Built on Java, JDBC, DB2 and ii3's Internet Request
Framework middleware, the application features 100% failsafe
transactional processing capability.
