Shy Alter, President and CEO, founded ii3 in 1992. Shy provides vision and direction to both ii3 and to ii3’s clients. In addition to his role in executive management Shy regularly work with solution teams to develop practical solutions to complex knowledge and information management challenges. Shy has lead innovative ii3 client engagements for Canada’s largest financial services, telecommunication, legal, and health science corporations.

Shy is KM pioneer who speaks regularly to the business community on the strategic impact of knowledge management and is recognized a thought leader in this area. In addition to being an entrepreneur, Shy is also an avid photographer.

Joshua Fireman, Vice-President Market Development and General Counsel, joined ii3 in 2004. Joshua is responsible for business development and client relations, with an emphasis on the legal market. Joshua also plays a lead consulting role on several key client engagements, leveraging his extensive knowledge management experience.

Joshua is regarded as a leader in knowledge management, noted for achieving the field's ultimate goal: active contributions to an institutional knowledge base. Prior to joining ii3, Joshua led the development of McCarthy Tétrault’s knowledge management system. Joshua created and implemented the firm’s knowledge management operations and deployment strategy, which included creating a national business consensus, building organizational structures, setting business-based goals and establishing measures of success, including quantitative and qualitative metrics.
