Matter intake and conflict resolution are critical aspects of any firm’s core operations. As top tier firms grow, become geographically diverse, and therefore operationally complex, they are constantly looking to improve and automate those procedures. Recently, ii3 was asked to help one of its clients with the re-mapping of those processes while suggesting recommendations to improve, automate and further tie this with the firm’s risk, operational, financial and knowledge management practices and systems.

ii3 helps manage the RBC Financial Group National Investment Review program on the PLN platform to a successful conclusion
November 1, 2005
ii3 worked with RBC Financial Group to delivery one of the bank’s most important annual employee exams, the National Investment Review (NIR). The program encompasses over 10,000 bank employees taking the NIR exam, within a one-week period, on the bank’s Personal Learning Network (PLN) e-learning Management System.
"Our goal each year with the NIR program is to ensure the user has as pleasant an experience as possible during this especially stressful time of year for the user. In order to achieve this goal, we had to carefully align the operational aspects, support, and technology" says Liesa Cummings, ii3 Project Manager. "ii3 has once again proven the importance of comprehensive program planning to ensure the operational side of NIR works with the technology".
The National Investment Review annual exam is a requirement of all bank employees selling investment related products. The PLN e-learning management system, developed and supported by ii3, is the platform of choice for deploying the exam in an efficient and effective manner.

ii3 Selected by RSM Richter | Assisting with Stage II Deployment of Firm's Document Management System
May 06, 2005
ii3 has been chosen to assist RSM Richter, one of the largest independent accounting, business advisory and consulting firms in Canada, with the development of its stage II document management (DM) adoption plan. After a successful rollout that saw the deployment of Hummingbird's DMS, RSM Richter is now looking to further leverage this powerful tool and continue to increase its use as a core business tool.
"Implementing Hummingbird's DM was an important step in a long term strategy that will take our firm to the next level of efficiency. Using a paperless process for a few years has shown tremendous efficiency gains. Now with the addition of the DMS, we will be able to reuse intellectual property throughout the firm leveraging the knowledge power of the entire staff" says Javier Freixa, RSM Richter's Director of Systems & Technology. "We see adoption and utilization as an ongoing task that will increase the return on our investment, our professionals' efficiency, and most importantly, our clients' satisfaction."
"'If you build it they will come' does not apply to knowledge management solutions like document management systems" says Shy Alter, ii3's CEO. "RSM Richter recognizes this and is taking all the right steps to ensure that the system's utilization will achieve the promise of DMS – improved knowledge sharing, efficient information management, leveraging the firm's most important digital assets and tighter integration with business processes and other systems"
By collaborating closely with RSM Richter, ii3 will:
- Identify additional best practices for the utilization of the firm's document management system
- Identify 'deep adoption' areas that stand to benefit from this powerful tool
- Integrate and coordinate the document management system with RSM Richter's Intranet

ii3 Selected To Choose Toronto Waterfront Revitalization Corporation's Document Management System
April 25, 2005
ii3 has been chosen to lead the Toronto Waterfront Revitalization Corporation's document management system requirements gathering and product selection process.
"Although document management and content management initiatives have taken hold in a variety of businesses over the past several years, their benefits have been variable," says Shy Alter, ii3's CEO. "We have found that most document management systems are purchased and installed with little concurrent business analysis and strategic planning."
"This means that business users are often simply presented with a new means of saving documents," adds Joshua Fireman, ii3's VP Market Development. "This is a change that they rarely equate to immediate improvements in their daily lives. In fact, those working with documents every day may consider DM to be an added burden rather than a beneficial addition to their workflow."
By collaborating closely with Toronto Waterfront Revitalization Corporation, ii3 will:
- Define document management as a disciplined business strategy with measurable objectives and benefits;
- Create a deployment strategy built on existing workflow;
- Simplify DM processes while laying foundations for future initiatives like collaboration; and
- Ensure that DM collects valuable information that will allow us to prevent "document overload" in later years of operation.
